Integrative Arts Program for Community Youth Special Ed Launches at Santa Barbara Art Works on July 25

By Rae van Seenus on Jul 12, 2019 at 06:41 PM in UCP Work Inc Blog

UCP WORK, Inc. is excited to announce that we have received a grant from the generous support of the Ann Jackson Family Foundation that will go towards a NEW Children’s Integrative Arts Program at Santa Barbara Art Works, the arts studio-gallery for artists with disabilities within our UCP WORK, Inc. family of services.

This new enrichments program will be accessible and developed for Tri-County special-education students to attend field trips and art workshops in our downtown Santa Barbara art studio location once a month.  Each participant will complete an art project to take home by the end of the class, attend neighboring landmarks to paint from, such as the Santa Barbara Courthouse, and may be mentored by an adult UCP WORK, Inc. participant that has gone through art education and job skills training. Transportation to and from the art studio will be provided by the agency.

The first Children’s Integrative Arts Program workshop is scheduled for Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 9:30AM with eight 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students from the Dwire School in Oxnard. Santa Barbara Art Works has a fun art project planned!

UCP WORK, Inc. looks forward to expanding this new program in the Fall of 2019, when students and school administrators have returned from their summer vacations. During this time, we hope to see more schools participate in the program, as well as, increase the number of times workshops are scheduled each month.

Thank you again to the Ann Jackson Family Foundation for providing the  grant to help UCP WORK, Inc. incorporate this creative, inclusive, life-enriching program for children into our family of services.
